Communication & Collaboration
WHAT ABOUT OUR COMMUNICATION?
One of Euro Chlor’s greatest strengths has always been an ability to speak with one voice, fully informed by science, on the role chlor-alkali plays in supporting a safer, more sustainable and more successful Europe. This is mostly thanks to the hard work of the Euro Chlor Communications Committee and their experts. Over the past twelve months, communications work has focused on the tools we use to share our key messages with our most important stakeholders.
COMMUNICATING THE BENEFITS OF CHLOR-ALKALI PRODUCTS TO SOCIETY
In September and October 2024, the last two videos were launched demonstrating the diverse applications of chlor-alkali. In total, twelve videos were published over the last year in line with seasonal events or thematic days via https://www.eurochlor.org/benefits. With input from the Communications Committee, related content was published on all our social media channels, supplementing content from other Euro Chlor communications materials. Steady audience growth was seen across all the channels as a result.
THE WORLD CHLORINE COUNCIL (WCC) CELEBRATES 250 YEARS OF CHLORINE
2024 marked the 250th anniversary of Karl Wilhelm Scheele’s discovery of chlorine.
To celebrate this significant breakthrough (and supported by Euro Chlor), the World Chlorine Council (WCC) launched its latest campaign ‘250 years of improving lives with chlor-alkali chemistry’ in December 2024. This features the biggest milestones in the history of our chemistry from the eighteenth century to today.
WCC is the global network of chlor-alkali trade associations from China, Europe, India, Japan, Latin America, North America and South Korea, and their member companies. Until January 2026, Euro Chlor will manage the secretariat of WCC. The team are currently planning the WCC Annual Meeting (14-16 October 2025 in Vancouver, Canada). The programme will include a site visit, a dedicated safety conference, networking opportunities, and a thought-provoking session on ‘Can chlor-alkali plants run on 100% renewable energy?’ to stimulate discussions on global sustainable practices in our industry. All members are welcome and more information is available via the Euro Chlor team or the WCC website.
REVAMPING THE EURO CHLOR WEBSITE WITH THE USER EXPERIENCE IN MIND
With the involvement of our Communications Committee members and the expertise of consultant CBTW, the Euro Chlor website will soon have a fresh new look. This revamping project will provide our diverse audience (members, partners, EU policymakers, non-governmental organisations, academics, students) with a clearer structure and easier way to find the information they seek.
Beneath the new ‘wrapping’, our core remains the same but we seek to better understand (and hopefully exceed) the needs and expectations of our visitors. We aim to officially launch this new website in late 2025.
