A pulse check on Global Chlor-Alkali

Very familiar global issues were seen at this meeting, including closures, the need for common safety guidelines, legislation on energy and emissions trading, and more. The meeting also benefitted from an in-person Safety Seminar where safety around loading and unloading was discussed in detail.

The group also discussed the future of WCC, with the consensus amongst delegates being that the organisation should continue in some form, but that activities would need to be refocused. A trial run of the new approach will be tied to the next in-person meeting scheduled for 2027. This will be led by the Chlorine Institute as the WCC secretariat was transferred to the United States for a two-year period in January 2026.
